Siliguri, 24 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – Tension gripped the Tulsi Nagar area under Matigara Police Station on Sunday after a clash allegedly broke out between two groups over a religious issue, leaving several people injured.
According to sources, the incident began with a minor altercation that quickly escalated into a major confrontation between the two sides. The situation soon turned violent, leading to a physical clash in the area.
Several people reportedly sustained injuries in the incident. Following the clash, personnel from the police and central forces rushed to the spot and managed to bring the situation under control.
To prevent any further unrest, a heavy police picket along with central force personnel has been deployed in the area. Security has also been tightened, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
The police administration has appealed to residents to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumours. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
