Kolkata, 26 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – Former Rajganj BDO Prashant Barman was arrested by police in connection with an alleged hit-and-run incident in Kolkata’s New Town area. The incident reportedly took place on Monday night near the Eco Park police station, where he is accused of hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle.
According to reports, after the incident, a local resident attempted to stop the car, following which Prashant Barman allegedly became aggressive, used abusive language, and threatened the individual. Traffic police personnel who reached the spot and attempted to conduct a breathalyzer test were also allegedly threatened by him.
Police later detained him and took him to the police station, where he was formally arrested. Reports further claimed that his name had earlier surfaced in connection with an alleged murder case involving a gold trader, and that he had reportedly been absconding. He is also accused of driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
