Siliguri, 01 June (Siliguri Chronicle) – The oath-taking ceremony of the new West Bengal cabinet was held at Lok Bhavan on Monday, with North Bengal securing significant representation in the newly formed ministry.
The cabinet, constituted with a focus on balanced development across the state, has sparked enthusiasm in Siliguri and other parts of North Bengal, as 10 MLAs from the region have been inducted into the ministry.
In the previous cabinet led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, only Nisith Pramanik represented North Bengal. However, the region’s presence has increased considerably in the new cabinet.
Among the ministers from North Bengal, four have been appointed as Cabinet Ministers, one has been given the charge of Minister of State (Independent Charge), and five have been inducted as Ministers of State.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, BJP workers and supporters in Siliguri celebrated the development by distributing sweets among local residents and passersby.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP leader Nantu Pal said that North Bengal has received unprecedented representation in the state cabinet. He expressed confidence that the move would help accelerate development in the region and address issues of long-standing neglect.
BJP leader Rita Saha also welcomed the development and said that North Bengal is expected to witness faster progress in the coming years after remaining deprived of adequate attention for a long time.
