Daring Daylight Snatch in Siliguri’s Subhash Pally, Two Miscreants Escape with Woman’s Gold Chain

Woman at Loknath Mandir targeted by bike-borne youths; one posed as devotee before snatching her gold chain and fleeing, triggering panic in Subhash Pally area.

Siliguri, 20 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – A brazen chain-snatching incident in Siliguri’s Subhash Pally area triggered panic on Monday morning after two youths allegedly fled with a woman’s gold chain from a temple premises.

According to local sources, the victim, identified as Sarbani Pal, had gone to Loknath Mandir for her daily worship. During that time, two youths arrived on a motorcycle and stopped near the temple. One of them entered the premises and asked whether it was a Lakshmi temple.

He then reportedly took out a torn ₹10 note and tried to offer it to the deity. When the woman objected, the situation suddenly escalated. The accused allegedly snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled the spot with his accomplice waiting outside.

Police from Siliguri Police Station reached the scene shortly after being informed and have started an investigation. Officials are currently examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and track down the accused.
