Rajganj, 27 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – A joint operation was carried out by the NJP Excise Department and Bhorer Alo Police Station against the illegal production of country liquor in Rajganj on Wednesday morning.
The raid was conducted in Sumribhita village under Majhiali Gram Panchayat, where officials destroyed a large quantity of illicit liquor and seized equipment used for manufacturing the alcohol.
The operation was led by personnel of the Excise Department along with OC Sudipta Dutta of Bhorer Alo Police Station, police personnel, and central forces.
According to police sources, several houses in the Sumribhita area were searched during the drive. During the searches, officials uncovered multiple illegal country liquor manufacturing units and recovered several earthen pots used in the production process.
Officials from the Excise Department said similar drives will continue in the coming days to curb the illegal liquor trade in the region.
