Rajganj, 23 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – A 56-year-old man died after being hit by a train near the Chinnamasta Kali Temple in Sahudangi on Saturday morning, triggering panic in the area.
The deceased was identified as Bhaskar Ghosh, a resident of Hazra Para in Cooch Behar district.
According to local resident Gopal Bhakta, he received information around 10 am that a person had been struck by a train on the railway track near the temple. He rushed to the spot and found the body lying in a severely mutilated condition.
On being informed, railway police reached the scene and recovered the body.
Sources in the railway police said the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
