Siliguri’s Gautam Deb fires off multiple complaints to district returning officer ahead of polls

Siliguri, 08 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – Political tensions are mounting in Siliguri ahead of the Assembly elections, with Trinamool Congress candidate Gautam Deb lodging multiple complaints with the district returning officer on Tuesday.

Deb visited the Sub-Divisional Officer’s (SDO) office, alleging that party posters and festoons were being deliberately torn and defaced in different parts of the city. He claimed that such acts were aimed at disrupting the electoral environment and targeting opposition campaign activities.

He further alleged that outsiders were being brought into Siliguri to create unrest, which could intimidate voters and hinder the conduct of free and fair elections. Deb urged the administration to investigate the allegations thoroughly and take necessary steps to ensure a peaceful and democratic polling process.
