Siliguri, 08 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – Trinamool Congress candidate Gautam Deb campaigned in Ward No. 46 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation on Wednesday, interacting with residents and reviewing local civic issues.

During the visit, light rainfall caused waterlogging in several parts of the ward. Taking note of the situation, Deb contacted engineers from the spot and instructed them to take immediate steps to resolve the problem.

He also listened to residents’ grievances, including concerns over drinking water supply and basic infrastructure, and assured that necessary action would be taken. Deb acknowledged that the area continues to face challenges related to water supply and civic amenities.

He further said that efforts are underway to address these issues and added that construction of a proposed bridge in the area is expected to begin by the end of May or early June.

Meanwhile, residents alleged that leaders and ministers rarely visit the locality except during election periods. They pointed to long-standing problems such as the absence of a bridge, unclean drains, poor drainage systems, and inadequate drinking water supply. According to locals, irregular cleaning of existing drains often leads to severe waterlogging even after light rainfall.
