Siliguri, 16 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – A fire broke out on Wednesday night at the Public Works Department (PWD) office near Hospital More in Siliguri, causing panic among people in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first noticed coming from a room on the terrace of the building. The situation quickly escalated as the flames intensified and spread within a short span of time.
Local residents promptly informed the fire department, following which a fire engine rushed to the spot and started firefighting operations. After continuous efforts, the blaze was brought under control.
Officials stated that the room where the fire originated was being used as a storeroom. It reportedly contained air conditioning units, electrical wires, and other equipment.
