Naxalbari, 16 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – With only a few days left for campaigning, Congress candidate Amitava Sarkar from the Matigara-Naxalbari Assembly constituency has intensified his outreach efforts.
On Thursday, Sarkar campaigned in the Rathkhola and Tukria More areas of Naxalbari, interacting with residents and seeking support. During the campaign, he was also seen exchanging greetings with a Trinamool Congress panchayat member.
Speaking to reporters, Sarkar said he is reaching out to voters across the constituency and noted that postal ballot voting has already begun under strict monitoring.
He asserted that the Congress is the only party contesting all 294 seats in the state, claiming that its growing presence has unsettled the opposition in the constituency.
Sarkar also pointed out that both the BJP and the Trinamool Congress have deployed top leaders, including the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, to campaign in the region.
He added that All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge is likely to visit the area soon to campaign.
