Daring Theft at Siliguri’s Mahashakti Kalibari: Ornaments, Cash and CCTV Hard Disk Stolen

Miscreants broke into Mahashakti Kalibari temple in Siliguri, stealing deity ornaments, puja items, ₹30,000 cash and the CCTV hard disk.

Siliguri, 31 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – A theft at the Mahashakti Kalibari temple in Siliguri’s Laketown area has sparked concern among local residents after miscreants allegedly broke into the temple and stole valuables.

According to reports, the temple priest and devotees arrived at the temple on Sunday morning and found the main gate lock broken. Upon entering, they discovered that ornaments adorning the deity, along with several puja items, were missing.

The thieves also reportedly broke open the donation box and escaped with around ₹30,000 in cash. In an apparent attempt to erase evidence, they removed the hard disk of the temple’s CCTV surveillance system before fleeing.

After receiving information about the incident, New Jalpaiguri Police reached the spot and launched an investigation.

The incident has triggered concern among locals, who have demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and the recovery of the stolen items.
