Siliguri, 25 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – The Biswa Bangla logo statue installed near Darjeeling More in Siliguri was removed on Monday, bringing a noticeable change to one of the city’s busiest junctions.
According to reports, the structure, which had been installed a few years ago at an expenditure of several lakhs, was dismantled following administrative action. The development comes amid ongoing political discussions in West Bengal surrounding changes in government branding and symbols associated with earlier state initiatives.
Political circles have claimed that several public installations and branding elements linked to the previous administration’s “Biswa Bangla” identity are gradually being replaced or removed. In many official places, the national symbol, the Ashoka Emblem, is reportedly being used instead.
However, no official statement has yet been issued regarding any larger policy decision directly related to the removal of the structure from Darjeeling More.
