Siliguri, 25 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – A high-level meeting on improving patient services and strengthening infrastructure at Siliguri District Hospital was held on Monday in the presence of Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Chief Medical Officer of Health, hospital superintendent, doctors and health workers. Several important issues related to hospital management and patient care were discussed during the meeting.
Concerns faced by patients and their families were highlighted, including the demand for a night shelter for relatives, parking-related problems inside the hospital premises, curbing the activities of touts and ensuring timely attendance of doctors and health workers. The progress of ongoing development projects at the hospital was also reviewed.
Speaking after the meeting, MLA Shankar Ghosh said the administration is working with the goal of turning Siliguri District Hospital into one of the leading hospitals in the state in terms of patient care and public services. He stated that steps are being taken to quickly identify and solve existing issues within the hospital.
He further said special focus would be given to improving infrastructure and arranging a proper night shelter facility for patients’ family members. Directions have also been issued to ensure doctors and health workers maintain punctuality and remain available at the hospital on time.
The meeting also decided to install large awareness boards across the hospital premises mentioning important dos and don’ts for visitors and patients. Along with this, a complaint box will be placed inside the hospital to allow patients and their family members to submit written complaints and suggestions easily.
