Rajganj, 08 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – Long-standing traffic congestion and daily inconvenience at the Belakoba railway gate area are set to ease following the approval of a 2-lane railway overbridge (ROB). The Railway Ministry has cleared the project, which was also mentioned in recently released Railway Board documents.
The proposed overbridge will replace the existing level crossing and is expected to improve vehicular movement in the area significantly. For years, residents and commuters have faced delays whenever the railway gate remained closed, leading to severe traffic congestion and disruption to daily travel.
Office-goers, students, and local traders have been among the worst affected, particularly during peak hours when traffic jams became frequent.
Following the approval, local residents expressed relief and optimism, hoping construction work will begin soon. They believe the new ROB will strengthen connectivity, reduce travel time, and improve overall transportation efficiency in the region.
