Siliguri, 23 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – A confusion erupted at a polling booth in Ward No. 01 of Siliguri after a young voter claimed that his vote had already been cast before he could exercise his franchise.
According to reports, Rakesh Sahani arrived at the polling station set up at Deshbandhu Hindi School to vote. After waiting in line and entering the booth, he was reportedly told by officials that his vote had already been recorded. He was then asked to return later in the afternoon.
The incident quickly drew attention after Trinamool Congress candidate Gautam Deb was informed. He visited the booth soon after and spoke with both the voter and the polling officials present.
Election officials later said that the matter would be reviewed, and the voter’s details would be re-verified. They added that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with election procedures if any discrepancy is found.
