Siliguri, 02 April (Siliguri Chronicle) – A suspected surveillance incident has come to light at the WBSEDCL office in Milanpally, Siliguri, after an audio recording device was found inside the station manager’s chamber, raising serious concerns among officials.
According to sources, the device was first noticed on March 17 behind a chair in the chamber of station manager Prashant Kumar Mahato. On closer examination, it was identified as an audio recorder, leading to suspicions that conversations inside the room may have been secretly recorded.
Following the discovery, CCTV footage was reviewed. Officials reportedly found an employee entering and leaving the chamber multiple times in a suspicious manner. It is suspected that the device may have been planted during the night.
The matter has become more serious as a similar device was reportedly recovered earlier on March 6, making this the second such incident within a short span.
Authorities are now trying to determine the motive behind the alleged surveillance, including the possibility of internal conflict, personal rivalry, or a larger conspiracy.
A written complaint has been filed with the cyber police station. Police, along with cyber experts, have launched an investigation and are examining all angles. The suspected employee is likely to be questioned as the probe continues.
