Siliguri, 25 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – Political tension has intensified in Siliguri following the suspicious death of a minor girl, with protests growing as the accused has not been arrested even 48 hours after the incident.

BJP leader Shankar Ghosh has expressed strong anger over the issue and is continuing his agitation with a sit-in protest (dharna). He said a rally is being organised and urged city residents to join the movement.

Targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh alleged that despite her visit to North Bengal for election campaigning, she has not commented on the incident. He accused the government of focusing on votes rather than standing by people during distress.

Ghosh also said he does not require separate campaign efforts as he remains connected with people throughout the year. He asserted that his dharna will continue until the accused is arrested.
