Man Held in Siliguri for Fake Social Media Account, Obscene Images of Woman Go Viral

Fakdaibari woman files complaint over fake account sharing obscene posts and false messages; accused Amar Dutta arrested by Siliguri Cyber Crime Police after probe.

Siliguri, 25 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – Police from the cyber crime police station have arrested a man for allegedly creating a fake social media account in a woman’s name and circulating obscene images along with misleading messages.

The accused, identified as Amar Dutta, is a resident of the Fakdaibari area.

According to police sources, a woman from Fakdaibari had lodged a written complaint on February 22, stating that an unknown person had created a fake account using her identity. The account was reportedly being used to post obscene images and send vulgar as well as misleading messages to several individuals.

The complainant also alleged that messages related to financial transactions at her workplace were being circulated, raising concerns and causing damage to her reputation.

Following the complaint, Siliguri Cyber Crime Police launched an investigation. Based on the findings, Amar Dutta was arrested on Tuesday night and produced before a court on Wednesday.
