Siliguri, 21 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – Sikha Chatterjee, the BJP candidate from Dabgram–Fulbari, faced pointed questions from a local youth while campaigning in the constituency on Saturday, leading to a brief tense exchange.
The incident took place in the Bottle Company area, where the youth alleged that the candidate had not been visible during key local issues or the SIR process, expressing dissatisfaction over her absence despite being a public representative.
Responding to the allegations, Chatterjee said the SIR process falls under the purview of the Election Commission and that unnecessary interference was not appropriate, which is why she maintained distance from it. She added that her presence as a public representative depends on the situation and context.
She further alleged that the questioning was politically motivated and claimed that those raising such concerns were workers of the Trinamool Congress, attempting to create tension during the ongoing campaign.
