Rajganj, January 04 (Siliguri Chronicle) – Tension was reported in the Bandhunagar area of Rajganj following a land dispute. Allegations have been made that a Tata Motors commercial vehicle sales and servicing centre was vandalised in connection with the dispute.
According to the complaint, the owner of the establishment, Vishal Agarwal, had purchased a plot of land adjacent to the showroom to set up an industrial unit. It is alleged that a few local individuals later attempted to forcibly occupy the land.
Vishal Agarwal alleged that when he tried to stop them, the miscreants vandalised his vehicle and locked the showroom’s main gate from outside. He further claimed that he was threatened with death if he came out. Following the incident, he contacted Bhorer Alo police station at dawn. Police later reached the spot, after which Agarwal and his employees were able to come out of the showroom.
On the other hand, local resident Sarita Begum and her husband claimed that the disputed land is ancestral property belonging to her husband. They alleged that Vishal Agarwal, along with some local land mafias, was attempting to forcibly occupy the land. Sarita Begum further alleged that her son was assaulted when they tried to resist, and demanded a fair investigation.
Later, a large police contingent from Bhorer Alo police station reached the area and brought the situation under control. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
