Alipurduar, July 20 (Siliguri Chronicle) – A woman from Alipurduar has gone missing just a day after her wedding. According to her family, she left home on Friday afternoon to visit a salon for make-up but did not return.
Her relatives have filed a missing person complaint with the local police. Authorities have launched a search to trace her whereabouts.
Sources said Bablu Mandal, a government employee from the Majidkhana area under Alipurduar-II block, married Rinku Biswas of Jashordanga in the same block on Thursday night. Jashordanga is about 14 kilometres from the district headquarters.
On Friday, while preparations were underway for post-wedding rituals, 27-year-old Rinku told her family she was going to a nearby beauty salon for make-up.
Accompanied by her brother, Rinku left for the salon—located less than a kilometre from her home—around 1 pm. Her brother later returned, saying Rinku had told him she would walk back home alone.
When she hadn’t returned by 2:30 pm, her family went to the salon and were told she had already left. Since then, she has been untraceable.
Later in the day, her family filed a missing diary at the Samuktala police station. “We are trying to trace her,” said a police officer.
