Siliguri, February 25 (Siliguri Chronicle) – Even before the official announcement of the Assembly election schedule, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb has begun campaigning in the city through wall writing.
Though the election dates are yet to be declared, political activities have started gaining momentum. On Tuesday, the All India Trinamool Congress launched its campaign efforts in Siliguri with party workers taking up wall writing across different parts of the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Deb said the wall writing work would be completed quickly and would not take much time. He noted that even though the party has not officially announced its candidate for the constituency, leaders, workers and supporters have already started campaigning at the grassroots level.
Deb also clarified that posters featuring the candidate’s name will only be put up after the party formally declares its nominee. He added that if the party chooses him as its candidate, only then will posters carrying his name appear on city walls.
