Jalpaiguri, January 27 (Siliguri Chronicle) – Bank employees in Jalpaiguri joined a nationwide strike on Tuesday, demanding the introduction of a five-day work week in the banking sector.
The strike was called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). From the morning, bank staff took part in protest rallies outside several government and private banks across the city.
During the demonstrations, employees raised slogans and voiced their demand for a structured five-day working system. They said such a system is essential to ensure better work-life balance and to improve efficiency in banking services.
Union leaders said the protest in Jalpaiguri was part of a larger, countrywide movement, with bank employees across India responding to the UFBU’s call in support of the five-day work week demand.
