Siliguri, January 03 (Siliguri Chronicle) – Students of Shaktigarh Girls’ School in Siliguri staged a protest on Saturday morning against the alleged collection of extra admission fees, briefly disrupting traffic in the area.

According to the complaints, while the government-mandated admission fee is ₹240, the school authorities are allegedly charging ₹400 per student without offering any clear explanation for the additional amount.

The protesting students demanded that the school strictly follow the government-prescribed fee structure and refund the excess amount collected from students.

When contacted for comments, the school’s headmistress declined to respond to the allegations. However, a teacher of the school claimed that the additional fees were being collected on the headmistress’s instructions, even though the official admission fee is fixed at ₹240.

Police reached the spot after being informed about the protest and brought the situation under control. The authorities have assured that the issue will be thoroughly investigated.
