New Year Buzz at Siliguri’s Bengal Safari Park as Massive Footfall Fails to Match Last Year’s Revenue High

Siliguri, January 02 (Siliguri Chronicle) – A festive atmosphere prevailed at North Bengal’s Bengal Safari Park as a massive influx of tourists marked the first day of the New Year 2026. Official sources said over 6,600 visitors thronged the park on New Year’s Day, soaking in the thrill of the jungle safari and bringing the entire premises alive with cheerful tourist activity.

Reportedly, the park earned around ₹10 lakh in revenue on New Year’s Day. However, despite the impressive footfall and a strong start to the year, it fell short of surpassing last year’s New Year record of over ₹11 lakh. Park authorities had been hopeful of setting a new benchmark this year, particularly in view of the sharp rise in tourist numbers witnessed during the Christmas holidays.

The outcome, however, did not fully meet expectations. Officials observed that while visitor numbers saw an increase, the average revenue generated per tourist declined in comparison to the previous year.

Bengal Safari Park Director E. Vijay Kumar said that both Christmas and New Year witnessed encouraging visitor turnout at the park. He added that while the park generated ₹10 lakh in revenue on New Year’s Day, it was unable to surpass last year’s record despite expectations of higher earnings.

Being the only safari park in North Bengal, the attraction pulled in visitors from far-off places on New Year’s Day. Tourists were seen relishing wildlife sightings and welcoming the New Year with family and friends. While the management expressed satisfaction over the large turnout, the dip in revenue has sparked discussions on fresh strategies to draw more visitors and boost earnings in the days ahead.

The park authorities expressed optimism that the introduction of new attractions in the future will further enhance visitor interest and boost footfall at Bengal Safari Park.
