Siliguri, 31 May (Siliguri Chronicle) – The Devarshi Narada Jayanti celebration was organized by Vishwa Samvad Kendra Uttar Banga at Dinabandhu Mancha in Siliguri on Sunday. West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi attended the programme as the chief guest.
The event highlighted the importance of journalism, the role of the media in society, and the need for responsible dissemination of information. Journalists from different parts of North Bengal took part in the programme.
One of the main attractions of the event was the felicitation of journalists for their contributions to society through their work in the media. The prestigious ‘Devarshi Narada Sarthak Jivan Samman 2026’ was presented to journalists who have consistently raised important social issues through their long-standing involvement in the field of journalism.
Organizers said the award was conferred in recognition of the recipients’ dedication and commitment to serving the public interest through responsible and impactful reporting.
Speaking at the event, Governor R.N. Ravi emphasized the crucial role of the media in a democratic society. He stressed the importance of responsible journalism and urged media professionals to remain impartial, uphold the truth, and continue presenting the realities of society with honesty and objectivity.
