Naxalbari, 21 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – Anandamay Barman, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the Matigara–Naxalbari constituency, faced questions from a voter during his campaign in the area.
Since being announced as the party’s nominee, Barman has been actively canvassing across the constituency. On Saturday, despite rain, he visited Naxalbari market as part of his outreach efforts. During the visit, a local voter raised concerns over persistent drainage issues in the area.
The voter alleged that the sitting MLA had not visited the locality over the past five years and pointed to unresolved drainage problems. The exchange briefly escalated into a verbal argument.
In response, Barman suggested that the individual could be associated with the Trinamool Congress, claiming that “they wear black glasses, so they could not see the MLA.” He further stated that the general public is supporting his campaign and expressed confidence that he would win the election by a margin of over one lakh votes.
