Rajganj, December 29 (Siliguri Chronicle) – The SIR hearing process has begun in Rajganj, but many voters are facing problems due to the absence of required documents. Several people attending the hearings reported difficulties in completing the process as they were unable to produce the necessary papers. The situation has caused concern among voters, who fear it may affect the verification of their records.

Since Monday morning, long queues and heavy crowds have been witnessed at the Rajganj BDO office premises, as people from various gram panchayat areas arrived to take part in the hearings.

According to sources, voters attended the hearings to resolve issues such as errors in the SIR list, deletion of names from the voter roll, address corrections, and discrepancies in family details. Many people were seen standing in queues from early morning, causing considerable inconvenience.

Several voters reported that even after reaching the hearing centre, they did not have all the documents sought by the authorities. Some said they had never attended school and therefore did not possess school certificates, while others stated they were born at home and were unable to obtain birth certificates.

Many also claimed that they had migrated from Assam and, with their parents having passed away long ago, arranging the required documents has become a major challenge.

Joint BDO Sourav Kanti Mondal informed that a total of 5,404 voters from the Rajganj Assembly constituency and 32,659 voters from the Fulbari Assembly constituency have been brought under the SIR hearing process.
