Siliguri, December 02 (Siliguri Chronicle) – The Siliguri Traffic Police have launched a citywide drive to clear roads and sidewalks of encroachments. Over the past few days, officers have carried out multiple operations in different parts of the city to improve traffic movement and ensure safer pathways for pedestrians.
On Tuesday, the traffic police conducted a special drive on Bidhan Road to clear sidewalks that had long been taken over by shopkeepers displaying their goods outside. Officials said that despite repeated warnings, many shop owners continued to encroach on the footpaths, prompting stricter action.
During the latest operation, police issued fresh warnings to shopkeepers, stating that any goods left on the sidewalks would be confiscated if not removed immediately.
