Jalpaiguri, 28 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – The decapitated body of an elderly woman was recovered from the Banijyer Hat area under Bahadur Gram Panchayat in Jalpaiguri, triggering shock and panic among local residents.
The deceased has been identified as Samija Khatun. According to family members, she had stepped out of her house early in the morning. Her body was later found behind the house, following which the family immediately informed the police.

Police personnel, along with a forensic team, reached the spot and began an investigation. Preliminary assessments indicate that it could be a case of murder. Authorities have initiated a detailed probe to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
