Kharibari, 27 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – A rare display of camaraderie marked the Ram Navami shobha yatra in Kharibari, where political rivals from the Trinamool Congress and BJP were seen sharing a moment of mutual respect.
The procession, organised by the Kharibari Ram Navami Utsav Committee, drew a large crowd of devotees and participants. Among those present were Phansidewa Assembly constituency candidates Rina Toppo Ekka (TMC) and Durga Murmu (BJP), who joined the celebrations.
In a notable gesture, Rina Toppo Ekka sought blessings from Durga Murmu by touching her feet. The two leaders were later seen walking together and dancing to the rhythmic beats of the dhak during the procession.
Both candidates clarified that their presence at the event was not politically motivated, but part of a religious and social celebration. Organisers also reiterated that the Ram Navami shobha yatra is open to all participants, regardless of political affiliation.
