Rajganj, December 28 (Siliguri Chronicle) – The 31st edition of the one-day day-night football tournament was inaugurated on Sunday at Paghalupara Ground near Sahudangi, under the Binnaguri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block.
The annual tournament is organised by the Paghalupara Yubak Sangha and drew local sports enthusiasts, marking the continuation of a long-standing tradition that promotes football and community participation in the area.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, who officially inaugurated the tournament. This year, 12 teams from different locations are competing for top honours. The winners will receive cash prizes along with the Champion Trophy, Runners-up Trophy, Fair Play Trophy, and several other special awards.
Speaking at the event, MLA Khageswar Roy lauded the Paghalupara Yubak Sangha for successfully organising the 31st edition of the football tournament. He expressed his pleasure in attending and watching the matches and hoped that thousands of spectators would flock to witness the exciting games this year as well.
The event also saw the presence of Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad member Ranbir Majumdar, Bhorer Alo Police Station OC Sudip Dutta, Binnaguri Gram Panchayat Pradhan Samijuddin Ahamed, and Upa-Pradhan Minati Roy, along with local dignitaries including Ravindranath Roy, Prafull Roy, Rajesh Roy, and several others.
