Siliguri, 27 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – Gautam Deb, the Trinamool Congress candidate and Mayor of Siliguri, observed Ram Navami by performing puja at his residence on Friday morning. He offered prayers at his home temple and sang devotional bhajans, including “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram,” following the rituals.
Later in the day, Deb visited several temples across the city and took part in Ram Navami processions. Speaking to the media, he said that Lord Ram resides in every individual’s heart and that people have followed his ideals for generations. He also emphasized the importance of respecting all religions.
Deb further remarked that his singing of Ram bhajans was intended as a message to the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing hope that “good sense should prevail.”
Meanwhile, Siliguri BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh declined to comment on Deb’s remarks, stating that such actions are common during the election period.
