Siliguri, 23 March (Siliguri Chronicle) – A youth from Chopra has been arrested by police from Siliguri’s Ashighar Outpost in connection with an alleged fraud involving several lakhs of rupees.
According to police sources, the accused was employed at a private company and allegedly posed as a manager to gain the trust of multiple individuals. He is accused of collecting money from them through various means, promising repayment, but later failing to return the funds before fleeing the area.
One of the victims, a woman, filed a written complaint at Chopra Police Station, prompting an investigation. During the probe, police gathered information that the accused had taken shelter in Siliguri.
Acting on the lead, police launched a search operation and traced him to the Ashighar Outpost area, where he was arrested.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, the accused was handed over to Chopra Police Station for further investigation and action.
